When did the first Swiss Chalet open?

A: 

It was in 1954, on the corner of Bloor St. and Bedford St. in Toronto, that Swiss Chalet fired up its first slow-roasting rotisserie oven. Our delicious chicken, fresh cut fries, popular dipping sauce, and warm, welcoming environment have been bringing Canadians back for more ever since.

What are Swiss Chalet’s hours of operation?

A: 

Our standard dining room hours are Monday – Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. However, individual location hours are subject to change. Please refer to our Restaurant Locator for specific restaurant hours.

What is your reservation policy?

Our Food

Q: 

How do you cook your famous chicken?

A: 

We start with fresh - never frozen - chickens that are basted by Swiss Chalet’s specially trained cooks, placed on a spit and loaded into an open-flame oven. In the rotisserie oven, the chickens roast in their own juices for 90 minutes before being removed from the spit and cut fresh to order.

Q: 

How do you prepare your ribs?

A: 

At Swiss Chalet, our ribs are a labour of love. All from Canadian pork, our ribs are rubbed with spices and left to marinate for 24 hours. After marinating, the ribs are braised for three hours, brushed with smoky BBQ sauce and then, once ordered, grilled to perfection.

Q: 

How do you prepare your fries?

A: 

Our fresh-cut fries are hand chipped daily, from fresh, whole potatoes. They’re cleaned, perfectly peeled then chipped into fries and blanched to ensure firmness and crispness. Then they’re cooked to order in trans-fat-free oil and served hot, just the way you like them.

Q: 

Do all entrées come with a side of fresh hand-cut fries?

A: 

If fresh hand-cut fries aren’t your thing, you can substitute them for seasoned rice, creamy coleslaw, creamy mashed potatoes, sweet kernel corn, fresh vegetable medley, garden salad or an oven-baked potato. A side Caesar salad, Mediterranean Tomato Cucumber salad, or Poutine can also be substituted for a small charge.

Are your ribs beef or pork?

A: 

Our famous smoky BBQ ribs are pork side ribs. A true labour of love, our ribs are dry rubbed and marinated in-house for 24 hours, braised to tender perfection, and then grilled-to-order and smothered in our smoky BBQ sauce.

Does Swiss Chalet have a Kids’ Menu?

Yes. We have an amazing Kids’ Menu full of entrées kids love, including two Health Check™ certified options.

What is the Health Check™ program?

A: 

Each item identified with the Health Check™ symbol has been reviewed by the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s registered dietitians to ensure they meet the specific nutrient criteria developed by the Health Check™ program based on recommendations in Canada’s Food Guide.

Is your chicken and Chalet sauce gluten free?

A: 

Yes, both the Rotisserie Chicken and Chalet Dipping sauce are gluten free. If you have a sensitivity to gluten or any other allergy please inform your server before ordering so we can take extra caution when preparing your meal.

When it comes to food allergies, the safety and satisfaction of our Guests is our highest priority. However, as in all non-dedicated kitchens, there is the possibility of cross-contamination between food items. Occasional variations in recipes or product formulations can also occur and there is risk of cross-contamination of ingredients at the manufacturing site. If your allergy or intolerance is mild, please use this Guide to make your selection. Does Swiss Chalet offer online and phone ordering?

Yes. You can order delivery or pre-order take-out online or by calling 1-866-439-0439.

Is there a minimum delivery order?

A: 

All delivery orders must be a minimum of $11.99 before tax. If your order is below $11.99 before tax, an additional charge will be applied in the amount necessary to meet the $11.99 minimum.

Are there additional charges for delivery?

A: 

Additional delivery charges may apply to your order. Delivery pricing and fees vary by location. Visit our online ordering site or call 1-886-439-0439 for full delivery pricing details from your local Swiss Chalet restaurant.

Do you offer debit on delivery?

A: 

At this time, not all of our restaurants offer debit as a valid payment option for delivery orders. Check the available payment methods when ordering online or ask one of our Customer Service representatives if the Swiss Chalet serving you accepts debit for delivery orders. We do accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and cash on all delivery orders.

Q: 

Do you have a Time Guarantee for delivery?

A: 

In most cases, we guarantee delivery within 50 minutes from the time an order is placed. Sometimes there are situations where we cannot provide a time guarantee – such as if your delivery location is too far from a restaurant or you are ordering to an apartment or condo. Whether you place your delivery order online or over the phone, you will be notified whether or not there is time guarantee on your order.

Q: 

Am I able to apply customer service credits to online orders?

A: 

All customer service credits must be applied over the phone. This policy is in place to ensure that only the Guest who was awarded the credit is able to apply it to their order.

Q: 

Why are your fries sometimes soggy when I order them for delivery?

A: 

We always want to make sure your food arrives to your home hot and delicious – especially our famous, fresh hand-cut fries. In order to keep your food hot, we package take-out and delivery orders in enclosed containers and bags. The heat from the food causes steam which can result in our famous fries getting a bit soggy. If you’re like us, your love for our fries is unconditional. But if you’re looking for that perfect crispiness that you get in our dining room, you can revive your fries by popping them in the oven for 5 minutes at 350°C. Just heat, serve, and enjoy!

Can I order a Family Pack in the dining room?

No. Our Family Pack meals are special offers that are available in delivery and take-out only.

Q: 

What are the different Family Packs options?

A: 

Our Family Pack meal includes a whole Rotisserie Chicken, four single sides, four rolls, and a 12oz extra-large Chalet Dipping sauce. You have the option to have the Rotisserie Chicken served whole, cut in half, or cut in quarters. You can also substitute the whole Rotisserie Chicken for six legs. Chicken & Ribs Family Packs are also available.

Can I buy a Swiss Chalet gift card?

Yes. Swiss Chalet is part of the Bon Appétit Gift Card program. All Bon Appétit Gift Cards are available for purchase at any participating restaurant operated by Cara Operations Limited. This includes: Swiss Chalet®, Harvey’s®, Kelsey’s®, Montana’s Cookhouse® and milestones Grill + Bar®.

Where Can I purchase Swiss Chalet/Bon Appétit Gift Cards?

There are three ways to purchase a Bon Appétit Gift Card. Q: 

Can gift cards be used for take-out and delivery orders through the phone and web?

A: 

Yes, but only if the gift card number begins with 308, 636, or 603. When placing your order, simply provide the gift card number over the phone or enter it online when you select “Gift Card” as your method of payment.
